Description: R. G. Spurling called for establishing the Christian Union on August 19, 1886. He was then called to be the first pastor of the congregation making him the first pastor in the Church of God. He authored "The Lost Link" calling for the church to give priority to love of God and neighbor over creeds and traditions.
